The sculpture reflects the history of social and political activism in the Bay Area in the latter half of the twentieth century. The work also reflects the changing physical template of the Bay Area due to the added landmass of the landfill.
The sculpture was commissioned by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative for the headquarters in Redwood City CA.
