Philosopher and scientist Alfred Korzybski famously stated that the map is not the territory, asserting his view that the tools we use to represent reality can never fully equal it. Reality- the “territory”- is infinitely inaccessible because our perceptions always intervene to create “mappings” based on our distinct and skewed understandings of the world around us.
