Near Death Experience
The impassable gulf of death and everlasting glory in the coming age is at times treated as a higher state of consciousness. The west Rose window of Chartres Cathedral depicts the Last Judgement. The printed image of this window has been cut through and combined with a reconfigured version of Durer’s Last Judgement from the twelve panels of the apocalypse created for The Book of St John in 1498. Glimpsed through this layer can be seen Shiva the destroyer and the angels of death.
